Addison man dies in Afghanistan

Captain Bruce K. Clark died of a heart attack while in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He was chatting with his wife online at the time of his death.

Clark, 43, grew up in Addison and moved to his wife’s hometown ofSpencerport,New York. Clark was a 1986 graduate ofAddisonHigh School, and served as a firefighter on the Addison Fire Department from 1986 to 1995, then again from 1998 to 2000. He joined the Army in 2006 and was stationed inHawaiibefore he was assigned to theTexasmedical center. He was assigned to A Company, Troop Command,WilliamBeaumontArmyMedicalCenter, inEl Paso,Texas. He deployed toAfghanistanin March, with the 566th Air Support Medical Company.

Clark’s body was returned Thursday to Dover Air Force Base.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, and two daughters, aged 3 and 9, and by his parents, Bruce (Bev) Clark and Cindy Hallenbeck ofAddison.

Funeral services are pending at the Walker Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., inSpencerport,New York. A memorial service for Clark will be held at a later date inAddison,Michigan.
